Extra Virgin Olive Oil Arbequina, Picual or Koroneiki
Extra virgin olive oil can be found anywhere, but a monovarietal extra virgin olive oil, of such high quality as we propose, you will not be able to get it anywhere else.
EVOO is one of the fundamental foods of our gastronomy, a sign of identity in Spain and even more in the Mediterranean.
Spanish oil has worldwide recognition and is in fact one of the most exported products.
Types of olive oil:
The type of oil is important and its knowledge is essential so that the consumer is not deceived.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
An extra virgin olive oil is one that is obtained only from olives in perfect condition and that retains its properties 100% thanks to the fact that the juice is extracted only by mechanical processes. Its acidity does not exceed 0.8º
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
This has less quality and therefore lower price. It is an oil that, although it has been extracted by mechanical processes, presents some defect in its organoleptic properties and can reach acid degrees of 2º
The olive oil:
This is the lowest quality we usually find in the market. It is oil obtained from mixing virgin and refined oil by means of different chemical processes. Really the virgin oil content does not usually exceed 20%
Olive Oil Price
Given the different types it is easy to identify where the price difference is. Performance and quality are at odds in the oil extraction process and therefore at higher quality, lower yield and higher price.
Even so, from Castelanotti Oils we choose to offer a gourmet quality in our arbequina, picual and koroneiki monovarietal oils, maintaining reasonable prices and in line with the great experience you will enjoy at home.
Not only is it a delight to the palate but it brings great health benefits.
Health benefits of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The benefits reported by the consumption of olive oil are very numerous due to the multitude of properties that it has. Broadly speaking, in EVOO we can distinguish three major properties: antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.
Polyphenols, in which extra virgin olive oil is especially rich, are the key to its tremendous health benefit on multiple fronts
- It reduces the risk of heart disease: oleic acid helps eliminate “bad cholesterol” and improves circulation significantly, even improving blood pressure.
- Improvement of diabetes: Still under study but according to the journal Diabetes Care, the Mediterranean diet, which is the protagonist of extra virgin olive oil, could be responsible for a reduction in cases of Diabetes II of 50%. This is because EVOO helps stabilize blood sugar. We must not forget that the fats contained in olive oil are healthy (taken with moderation)
- Effects on skin and hair: Nutrition is essential for skin and hair. Because the oil has a large amount of vitamins E and K, it is a good weapon against aging. Keep in mind that these vitamins act as antioxidants and maintain elasticity.
Calories in EVOO
The oil, in fact, has a high concentration of calories, however, these are unsaturated, natural fats that provide other benefits.
The calories contained in olive oil are among the few that, although they count in the diet, produce many more positive effects than negative ones.
